Worn on Repeat: Caring for Your Golfwear with Intention

At Gresham Reed, quality isn’t a buzzword - it’s stitched into every piece. From the first fit to the fiftieth wear, our garments are designed to perform, to travel, to layer, and to live in.

We know you’ll wear them often and that’s exactly the point. But with a few simple habits, you can help your Gresham Reed staples stay sharp, hold their structure, and feel as good on their hundredth wear as they did on day one.

Here’s how to care for your golfwear with the same attention we put into making it.

Avoid over-washing
We use high-grade, breathable cotton designed to hold its shape. It’s soft from the start - and softens further with time - without losing its clean lines or sharp finish. Our cotton is naturally breathable so unless it’s been worked hard, a simple air-out is often enough between wears. When washing is needed, cold water and a gentle cycle will do the job.

The Pre-Wash Promise
Every Gresham Reed garment is pre-washed before it reaches you. That means no shrinkage, no twisting seams, and no surprises after the first wash. What you try on is what you keep. To maintain that fit, skip high heat - wash cold, lay flat to dry, and avoid tumble drying where possible.

Structured Collars
Our collars are sewn with integrated stays - designed to sit cleanly, with no curling or collapse. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference when it comes to smart, consistent structure. When storing, hang your shirts on a wide, shaped hanger to support the collar line. If travelling, button the top two buttons to help the collar hold its shape in your bag.

Fit That Moves With You
Every garment is tailored, not tight - designed to move freely without looking oversized. It's breathable, flattering, and feels effortless. To maintain that balance, avoid leaving shirts bunched or over-stretched on hangers. Fold knitwear. Hang shirts with care. Respect the cut and it will return the favour.

5 Extra Care Habits to Make Yours Last

1. Skip the Softener
Fabric softeners coat cotton fibres and reduce their natural breathability. We recommend skipping it entirely.

2. Steam, Don’t Iron
High heat from an iron can flatten texture and leave a sheen. A handheld steamer lifts fibres gently and maintains the cotton’s natural structure.

3. Spot-Clean Where You Can
For sunscreen, grass or coffee marks, treat them quickly with cold water and mild detergent. Avoid scrubbing - blot instead.

4. Avoid Heavy Wash Loads
Overloading your machine creates friction. Wash with similar fabrics and avoid mixing with rough denim or zips that could catch.

5. Pack with Purpose
Roll garments when travelling, rather than folding sharply. For collars, a soft tissue insert helps maintain shape in transit.

Treat your golfwear well and it will stay sharp, structured, and ready for whatever’s next.
